British-South Korean driver Jack Aitken will continue his IMSA GTP campaign with Whelen Cadillac Racing in the #31 Cadillac V-Series.R, which he drives alongside Brazilian racer Pipo Derani. The pair are occasionally joined by 2022 and 2023 24 Hours of Daytona winner Tom Blomqvist for the Michelin Endurance Cup races.

The #31 is currently leading the Michelin Endurance Cup by one point. However, as this weekend is a sprint event, Aitken and Derani will be hoping to close the 50-point gap between themselves and the current GTP Drivers’ and Teams’ Championship leaders, Dane Cameron and Felipe Nasr, in the #7 Porsche Penske Motorsport Porsche 963.

Indian-American driver Yuven Sundaramoorthy enters the fifth round of his Indy NXT campaign with Abel Motorsports, where he drives the #22. The rookie driver is currently 20th in the standings with a best race finish of 12th.

In an interview with Asian Motorsport earlier this year, Sundaramoorthy said that he “just really [loves] the goals and the way that the motorsports curriculum works here [in the United States]”, and added that he hoped to “be the first Indian-American to race in IndyCar and the Indy 500 and hopefully do well there” in “a couple years”.
