An action-packed Toyota Corolla Altis GR Sport OMR / Toyota Yaris Ativ Lady OMR race saw overall leader Ayrton Asdathorn (#51) crash out after a collision with second-placed Tayaphol Kongsuwan (#45). Asian Motorsport reviews the round.

The race began under clear skies against the picturesque backdrop of Bangsaen’s coastline, with 19 drivers lining up for a standing start. Asdathorn started from pole, followed by Kongsuwan and Rotor Thongchua (#17).

It wasn’t long before the drama began. Car #188, driven by Natthawalun Sansuk, sustained rear damage and was dragging its rear bumper on the ground after an incident with car #155, driven by Nicha Viraporn, at Turn 2. This was deemed a racing incident by the stewards and no further action was taken.

Asdathorn maintained his lead throughout the race, defending against Kongsuwan despite suffering damage to his rear bumper. The leaders weaved in and out of lapped traffic and were practically nose-to-tail with two laps to go. Despite receiving a black-and-white flag for driving standards, Kongsuwan kept persisting as he sought to fight his way ahead of Asdathorn.

Neither driver backed down as they approached the end of the final straight. The leading pair ended up colliding at the braking point, causing Asdathorn’s #51 to violently crash into the barriers at Turn 19. The race was immediately red-flagged, and Kongsuwan was placed under investigation for causing a collision.

Pilkajorn led the Ativ Lady class with a dominant 45.284 advantage over her closest rival, Pitcha Miya Thongchua. Siripakorn Yeabyon placed third, a further 7.510 seconds behind Miya Thongchua.
