Asian Motorsport reviews the action from race one of the third round of the Spanish F4 championship at Paul Ricard

By Marco Albertini

Race one of the third round of the 2024 F4 Spanish championship was held at 17:05 local time.

Italian rookie Mattia Colnaghi started on pole and was joined on the front row by championship leader Keanu Al Azhari.

As Colnaghi had a great start, Al Azhari was passed by Juan Cota before the first corner, but the UAE driver wasn’t able to attack the Spanish driver as the safety car was brought out due to Lucas Fluxa not starting.

The Safety car would come in with 23 minutes to go and Keanu Al Azhari was overtaken by the Campos of James Egozi, putting the UAE driver out of a podium position.

Further down the field, the Sainteloc of Yevan David was spun in turn 2, but managed to rejoin the track, albeit at the back of the pack.

Keanu Al Azhari’s race got worse as he ran wide in the final corners, breaking his front wing, forcing him to pit from fourth place, losing valuable points.

As Keanu’s race went south, his younger brother Adam had been gaining several positions on his debut, having started P21, the UAE stayed out of trouble placing himself near the top 15.

As Colnaghi took his maiden win, Adam Al Azhari was promoted to P14 following a penalty to a driver ahead.

Elsewhere, Enzo Tarnvanichkul finished P19, Rehan Hakim finished p25, Keanu Al Azhari finished p26 and Yevan David finished p29.
