Singha Motorsport Team Thailand is a recognisable name in the top class of the Thailand Super Series. Drivers Voravud Bhirombhakdi and Carlo Van Dam have been a legendary pairing for the team in past seasons.

This year, they won’t be the only drivers racing for Singha Motorsport, as the team has also entered the #12 car for Piti Bhirombhakdi and Kantasak Kusiri.

Piti Bhirombhakdi is a former champion of Thailand Super Series, having won the GT3 drivers’ crown in 2021 with Earl Bamber. That year, Singha Motorsport also won the teams’ championship.

Meanwhile, Thai driver Kusiri, described as “one of the fastest young drivers in Thailand” by Thailand Super Series on Facebook, brings a wealth of international experience.

He previously competed in the 24H TCE Series in Europe, picking up several race victories. Kusiri has previously raced in the Thailand Super Series too.

Alongside the two Singha Motorsport cars in the GT3 class, the team has also entered the GTM class with a Ferrari 488 Challenge.

Thai drivers Kittipol Pramoj Na Ayudhya and Supakit Jenjitranun are sharing driving duties in the Ferrari and in their first race of 2024 in Buriram on Saturday, they finished second.

Singha Motorsport team manager Wasawat Jet-aree told Asian Motorsport the team was “very excited” about “the biggest series in Thailand”.

New cars

In past years, Singha Motorsport has used Ferrari cars in the top GT3 class of the Thailand Super Series, but the team switched to Honda for 2024.

Singha Motorsport used a Honda NSX GT3 for the first time in the final round of the 2023 Thailand Super Series season. During that round, Bhirombhakdi and Van Dam picked up back-to-back podium finishes.

“That is the first race we used Honda and the performance is we got a podium [in the] last race last year, that’s why the drivers … want to run with the NSX GT3 this year in the full season, so it will be a new experience for the mechanics, the engineer, and the drivers,” Jet-aree said.

Jet-aree said Singha Motorsport’s GT3 drivers had a lot of experience.

“It definitely helps us and helps the team, because this is not only Thailand Super Series experience, they have many, many experience[s] in another series,” he said.

“Some drivers, Carlo [Van Dam] or Kandasak [Kusiri], they have the global experience in Europe racing too, and I think that will help the team, help us to be the winner this year.”

Singha Motorsport tasted victory in the first Thailand Super Series GT3 race of 2024, as the #12 Honda pulled off an unthinkable victory.

Despite being spun out early in the race by another car, the #12 Honda made up time from a safety car, allowing it to get back to the front.

“I think both [GT3] cars and all drivers can have a good result, can jump into the podium and can be the winners this year,” Jet-aree said.

“We are a big team in Thailand for over 20 years, I just want to tell the fans in Thailand or if they are international, just want to tell them please cheer us,” he said.
