The #31 Audi of Phantom Global Racing led the 12 Hours of Sepang after three hours, but it was only a few seconds ahead of the #44 R&B Racing Porsche, which made up ground throughout the second hour. A safety car just before the end of the third hour bunched up the top six.

After three hours of racing the #31 Phantom Global Audi held a two-second lead over the #44 R&B Racing Porsche.

In third and about 10 seconds off the lead was the #4 Grove Racing Mercedes, which benefitted from a pitstop under the safety car, which came out two hours and forty minutes into the race.

The cars in fourth and fifth – the #911 Absolute Racing Porsche and #13 Phantom Global Racing Porsche – also took the opportunity to pit under the safety car. At the three-hour mark, both cars were about 15 seconds behind the leader.

The two leaders – the #31 Phantom Global Audi and #44 R&B Racing Porsche – did not pit under the safety car.

The safety car was deployed when the #216 Modena Motorsports Lamborghini GTC car got stuck in the gravel. The Lamborghini was able to get going again.

The stoppage was initially a full course yellow, but it was upgraded about five minutes later to a safety car.

The English version of the race is being live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. Two Chinese steams are available, one on Youku and another on Huya.
