Three new cars have joined Japan Cup for the next round in Fuji, lifting the total number of entries to 16. But, one of the top GT3 cars from the first round will not return because it is racing in GT World Challenge Asia instead.

Japan Cup was previously a championship within GT World Challenge Asia, but this year it has become a standalone series with GT3 and GT4 cars.

The first Japan Cup round was held earlier this month at Sportsland Sugo and Shinji Takei and Ukyo Sasahara won both races in the #9 Bingo Racing Corvette.

Japan Cup heads to Fuji International Speedway on June 21-23, where it will race alongside GT World Challenge Asia. Both series have their own 60-minute races on the same weekend.

A provisional entry list for Fuji confirmed three new cars have joined Japan Cup while one has dropped off.

The ANR by VSR Lamborghini that raced at Sugo will not continue in Japan Cup because the car and its drivers, Akira Mizutani and Yuki Nemoto, are competing in GT World Challenge Asia instead.

A Nissan GT-R GT3 from Team DAISHIN is among the new Japan Cup entries in Fuji. Father and son Nobuyuki Oyagi and Ryuichiro Oyagi will drive the Nissan in the GT3 Am class.

The second new entry is a McLaren 570S GT4 from JBR, a team founded by D’station Racing managing director Tomonobu Fujii.

The final new car is a Porsche 911 GT3 Cup 991 from GAMA 83 Racing. It will race in the GTC class and is the only car in that class.

Sugo double-race winner Ukyo Sasahara won’t race in Fuji. He has been replaced in the #9 Bingo Racing Corvette by bronze driver Motoki Takami.

Mercedes factory driver Jules Gounon joins the GT World Challenge Asia field in Fuji, replacing Ralf Aron in the #22 Climax Racing Mercedes.

Gounon was set to contest the rounds in Sepang and Buriram but missed them as he was called up to race for Alpine in the World Endurance Championship.

Thirty-three cars are on GT World Challenge Asia’s provisional entry list for Fuji.
