Practice and qualifying for the third round of Porsche Carrera Cup Asia took place at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, Thailand on Friday.

French driver Ghiretti, who also races in the Porsche Supercup, narrowly topped both qualifying sessions on Friday afternoon, giving him pole position for the two races on Saturday.

In the first qualifying session, Ghiretti was just 0.095s faster than 2022 Porsche Supercup Champion Dylan Pereira, who finished second.

In the second session, the gap between the pair was even narrower, with just 0.012s separating their best times.

Friday’s result is the second round in a row where Ghiretti has grabbed both poles.

In Pro-Am, Li Zhicong took the class pole position in the first session, while the fastest driver in the second session was reigning Pro-Am champion and points leader, Bao Jinlong.

In the Am class, qualifying went especially well for Thai driver Munkong Sathienthirakul as he captured the class pole in both sessions.

In the second session, Sathienthirakul’s best lap was quicker than every Pro-Am driver too, putting him 9th on the overall grid for the second race.

Sathienthirakul is the only Thai driver in the field this weekend.

Both races in Buriram take place on Saturday and they will be completed before the start of the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France.

The Buriram races start at 10am local time (3am GMT) and 2.30pm local time (7.30pm) on Saturday.

The races will be streamed live on YouTube on the Porsche Motorsport Asia Pacific channel.
