The 2024 Formula Regional Middle East Championship returns for Round 3 at the Dubai Autodrome, after the first two rounds at Yas Marina.

Championship leader Tuukka Taponen sits with 100 points coming into Round 3, after claiming 2 wins in Round in addition to consistent top-10 finishes. The rookie driver for R-ace GP claimed his wins in Race 1 and Race 3 of Round 2.

Behind in second, Taponen’s R-ace GP teammate, Martinius Stenshorne, has 88 points after claiming four podium finishes in the past six races. Round 1 saw Stenshorne finish P3 in Races 1 and 2. In Race 3, Stenshorne fell short of a win when a penalty saw him bumped down to P2. In Round 2, Stenshorne finished P2 in Race 1.

Taylor Barnard rounds out the top three with 69 points. PHM AIX’s Barnard had a stellar weekend in Round 1, winning the opening race of the season and Race 3. Round 2 saw Barnard struggle to replicate those results, walking away with P3 in Race 3, his only points-scoring finish of the weekend.

Sainteloc Racing’s Theophile Nael scored his first win of the season in Race 2 of Round 2. The addition of a P2 finish in Race 3 propelled Nael up the championship standings to P4 with 56 points.

Close behind is Pinnacle Racing’s Mari Boya with 54 points. Boya’s consistent performance saw the Spanish driver finishing in the points in five out of the past six races, after an incident in Race 3 of Round 2 forced him to retire the car. Boya secured a double-podium finish in Round 2, scoring P3 in Race 1 and Race 2 and bringing valuable points to the Pinnacle team.

Arvid Lindblad, the winner of Race 2 in Round 1, sits in P8 in the drivers’ standings with 23 points. The Mumbai Falcons driver has struggled to replicate the result, with his other points-scoring results in Round 1 with a P10 in Race 1 and P8 in Race 2, and in Round 2 where he scored P9 in Race 2.
