Supported by the FIA Sport Club Development Program, the Stewards’ Training Program has engaged new participants within the Indian motorsport community.

The Program was launched after two FIA visits in 2023 identified the need for stewards’ and race directors’ training in India.

The FIA provided comprehensive training to FMSCI staff, including guidance on training development and delivery.

Spanning two months, the program conducted sessions in Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore, Delhi, and Kolkata. About 350 participants attended the sessions.

The training included interactive lectures and comprehensive modules to improve participants’ skills for motorsport events across India.

Online integration promotes continuous learning

Over 300 individuals took part in the online assessments, which were held twice. A new grading system with Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze categories was introduced to recognise and reward proficiency in stewarding.

The Stewards’ Training Program will be integrated into the e-learning portal of FMSCI’s upcoming website, allowing individuals to access training materials from home and facilitating ongoing skill development.

The FMSCI is committed to nurturing talent and supporting the growth of motorsport in India. The Stewards’ Training Program has equipped its participants with essential skills to aid their integration into the motorsport community.

Akbar Ebrahim: Stewards’ Training Program “first step” towards “consistent decision-making”

The President of the FMSCI, Mr. Akbar Ebrahim, highlighted the importance of the Stewards’ Training Program and continuous training to maintain high standards of safety, fairness, and professionalism in motorsport events.

“This program was our first step towards knowledge updates, consistent decision-making, handling complex situations, adaptability, and maintaining ethical standards,” he said.

“We are grateful for the FIA’s support in helping us achieve these goals.”

The upcoming integration of the Stewards’ Training Program onto the FMSCI website emphasises the ASN’s commitment to the growth and development of motorsport across Asia.
