The first of two qualifying sessions resulted in a pole position for Mumbai Falcon’s Alex Powell with a 1:55.736. Powell’s teammate Freddie Slater completed the front row, following by a mere 0.055 seconds and putting in a 1:55.791. The top three formed a league of their own, with PHM AIX’s Nikita Bedrin putting in a 1:55.803 and beating P4 by 0.113 seconds.

Yas Heat’s Keanu Al-Azhari completed the second row, with a 1:55.916 – a strong time but, on such a competitive grid, not strong enough to bring him close to pole.

Yas Heat’s Kean Nakamura-Berta put in a 1:55.993, beating Prema’s Doriane Pin by 0.077 seconds. Nakamura-Berta secured P5, with Pin starting beside him in P6.

Second qualifying saw Al-Azhari claim pole with a 1:55.323. On a grid that has the top 17 drivers separated by only 1.073 seconds, Al-Azhari just managed to beat Bedrin for pole by 0.090 seconds. Bedrin clocked in at a 1:55.413, only 0.018 seconds up from Slater, who secured P3 with a 1:55.431.

Nakamura-Berta, who secured P1 in the Free Practice session earlier today, found himself in P5 with a 1:55.665, narrowly missing out on P4 by 0.084 seconds.
