The AAS Motorsport #18 Porsche 718 Cayman GT4 RS Clubsport, driven by Pitsanu S. and Kanthadee K., set the fastest time in an eventful practice session at Bangsaen Street Circuit.

By the Asian Motorsport Team

The first competitive lap time of the session was set by the AAS Motorsport duo on their third tour around the 3.74-kilometre long street circuit, clocking in a 01:46.324. Two laps later, however, the Malaysian-Australian Racing Aurora #36 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT4 pairing of Peter H. and Hayden H. improved by 0.323s to brush the 01:46.001 barrier.

2W Zoomies’ #58 Toyota Supra GT4, driven by Thai-Japanese pairing Nanin I. and Kazuhisa U., recorded a 01:45.871 before the all-Thai AAS Motorsport line-up set a 01:44.428 to take them back to the top of the timesheets. However, the #58 is under investigation for ignoring yellow flags during the practice session.

The session was red-flagged as Aim Motorsports’ Prutirat R. crashed his #44 Mercedes-Benz AMG GT4 into the barriers at Turn 16, necessitating lengthy repairs before the session returned to green flag conditions. No other car was able to improve upon the laptime that the AAS duo set, making them the car to beat heading into the next practice session.

Another incident during the session saw Tecpro Racing’s #11, driven by third-placed Siramed Thungsuteeranonkul, shown the mechanical black flag, forcing it into the pits for repairs.

The top six positions featured five different makes, highlighting the diversity and competitive nature of the field.
